The Cave was a project brought to me by my first clients at Veenema Design Works. Swiss Hills Ferments was looking for a way to make fermenting beer, cheese and meat easier for the DIYer. We went through several iterations before arriving at a simple to install add-on for a small refrigerator. I created a minimal mechanical, electrical and software prototype for this system so that Swiss Hills Ferments could launch a crowd-funding campaign for further development.
This project utilized rapid development techniques using the Particle Photon and cloud service, quick-turn PCB services and professional 3D printed parts that were designed for manufacture.
