I have been exposed to a broad background in Mechanical design. Most of the projects I have been involved with fit under the umbrella of “small machine” but I have broad range of experiences in this area including:
- Packaging equipment
- Medical devices aimed to slow and stop the spread of pathogens through a hospital
- 3D printers of various media type, including, wax, powder, plastic filament, and chocolate
- Washing systems for 3D printed parts
- Food processing equipment for market Deli’s
Within these (and other) projects I have had a broad set of experiences including:
- Plastic Injection Molding design, using flow analysis to eliminate thin features and recognize and rework difficult features.
- Stress analysis on chassis designs for 3D printers
- Coolant air flow analysis to ensure adequate dispersion over cooling fins and printed parts on early CocoJet prototypes
- Quick pace modeling and detailing of high-precision, machined parts and formed sheet metal parts
- Part count optimization, reducing cost, time and complexity to produce a product
- Working with vendors and manufacturers to ensure on-time delivery of our own prototypes and products
