I have a strong working background in electrical engineering. I have designed numerous schematic and PCB designs in my current role as a Mechatronic Engineer. My main area of focus is in control systems and automation. Connecting sensors with actors and applying logic gives me the greatest satisfaction in circuit design. I also enjoy optimizing circuitry for current consumption and creating, high sensitivity sensor circuits. Some of the schematics I have designed have been:
- A low cost color change detection circuit for use in pathogen detection. Utilizing a bi-color led and a photo sensor to detect the color change of a media
- Creating a print-head driver circuit for the CocoJet Chocolate 3D printer. Systems included precision temperature measurement, pressure and vacuum sensing and control, and dual heater modulation. This system controls pressures to 1/10th of a PSI and temperature to 1/10th of a degree Celsius, as well as fans and a high power thermoelectric cooling module and RGB LED for simple communication to the user
- A test jig for measuring and recording life-cycle testing on a configurable manifold. This circuit measures analog signals on 10 lines simultaneously and logs them to an SD card while controlling motor movements and continuously testing for failure. Alerting users through wifi and LED if there is a failure or error.
- Creating a complete, cloud enabled, food preparation controller, which monitors, temperature, humidity and air circulation in an enviromentally controlled chamber. In addition to cloud connectivity, users interact with a full color, touchscreen GUI for changing programs and parameters. As a part of this project, I created an LED light source using high-power LED’s requiring precise thermal design in a tight area. This consumer level product had to be designed to meet a low BOM cost and be cost effective to build.
